The last test
match played between Sri Lanka and India was played at the KD Singh Babu Stadium in
1994. Ever since then, despite having good hotels and air connectivity, Lucknow lost out to international cricket matches due to lack of a proper stadium. Lucknowites either travelled to Kanpur or Delhi to watch international matches or had to make do with watching them on TV
.The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has now allotted the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow as the new home ground of Afghanistan. The team will be able to host Tests, ODIs, and T20Is at the venue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has helped their cricket over a number of instances. Previously, the Afghans had a couple of more home venues in India.
